Practice News and Notices

£1335 - THANK YOU!

£1335 was raised from the book stall during November and December.

Dr Keeling would like to express her gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the book stall. Also to the many patients who donated money.

“I travelled via Delhi to Kathmandu then flew to Nepalgunj on the Indian border. There followed a 7 hour jeep ride into the Himalayas. The gynecology camp was held in a small Hospital in the remote village of Dailekh in the Mid West. Women walked for days from remote villages to access medical care at the camp. We were a team of 13 staff from England, New Zealand, Australia and Canada and travelled with the charity International Nepal Fellowship.650 women were seen by myself and a GP Dr Claire Stevens from Duffield and of these 65 had operations. Conditions ranged from uterine prolapses, ovarian cysts, fibroids, fistulas and pelvic infections. It was an incredible experience to work amongst such a poor community in a country still struggling to survive after years of conflict.

The money from the bookstall was used to fund the poorest of the patients who had travelled without food or lodgings with their families.

£200 was also given to The Morning Star orphanage in Kathmandu where we visited to take gifts and toys.”

......................................................................

WE WOULD LIKE TO WISH ALL OUR PATIENTS A VERY HAPPY

AND HEALTHY NEW YEAR.

WE WOULD ALSO LIKE TO EXPRESS OUR THANKS TO ALL THOSE WHO DONATED CHOCOLATES AND BISCUITS FOR US TO ENJOY DURING CHRISTMAS AND BEYOND.

(DIETS START IN EARNEST AT THE END OF THE MONTH!)
